Senior Product Manager, Photonics – Billerica, Massachusetts

As a Senior Product Manager , you will define the vision and strategic direction of key product initiatives, serving as the driving force behind the development of innovative solutions in fiber optics, lasers, optical sensors, or imaging systems .

Your role is both strategic and cross-functional—orchestrating collaboration across engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and customer success to ensure seamless execution from concept to market.

With your deep technical expertise and strong market insight, you'll translate complex customer needs into compelling, actionable product roadmaps. You'll lead the full product lifecycle—from ideation and development to launch and beyond—ensuring each product not only meets the evolving demands of our customers but also advances our business goals and delivers exceptional value and user experience .

Key Responsibilities:

Define and execute the product roadmap for assigned product lines in optical technologies.
Identify market trends, emerging technologies, and customers' needs to guide strategic investments.
Prioritize features and initiatives based on customer impact, business value, and technical feasibility.
Engage with key customers—including technical buyers, system integrators, and senior decision-makers —to gather insights and validate product direction.
Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor during technical discussions and customer evaluations.
Represent the voice of the customer internally to influence product decisions.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to guide development and ensure product excellence.
Work with marketing and sales to craft compelling value propositions, product positioning, and go-to-market plans.
Support sales enablement by delivering training, competitive analysis, and technical documentation.

Lifecycle Management

Monitor product performance, margins, and adoption to inform enhancements or phase-outs.
Lead pricing strategies, cost optimization efforts, and value-based selling approaches.
Manage new product introductions (NPIs) and coordinate successful product launches.
Serve as a mentor to a Junior Product Manager beginning in the next fiscal year.
Guide product management best practices, prioritization, and stakeholder engagement.
Support the junior team member's growth into a more strategic role over time.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or master's degree in physics , Engineering, Optics, or a related technical field; MBA a plus.
5+ years of product management experience in a technology or engineering-driven company.
Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas:

Fiber optics

Lasers

Optical sensors

Imaging systems

Strong technical acumen with the ability to communicate complex technical topics to both expert and non-technical audiences.
Proven success launching B2B technical products and influencing product adoption across global markets.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile or Stage-Gate development environment.

Preferred Experience:

Hands-on experience working with OEMs or end-users in industrial automation, medical devices, defense, or telecommunications.
Familiarity with regulatory, safety, or performance standards relevant to optical systems.
Experience developing or marketing high-reliability or mission-critical products.
