Job Description
Job Title: GCP Cloud Engineer
Location: Washington, D.C. (Onsite – 5 days per week)
Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance (TS preferred)
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced GCP Cloud Engineer to support our customer at the US Department of State (DOS). This role is integral to the delivery of scalable, secure, and highly available solutions in a federal cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices, with the ability to design and support cloud-native architectures.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage secure and scalable cloud infrastructure using GCP.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, Deployment Manager, or similar tools.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline automation, integration, and management.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, security personnel, and government stakeholders to support development and deployment workflows.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure cloud services meet SLAs.
  • Implement cloud best practices and ensure compliance with federal security standards (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST).
  • Provide documentation and knowledge sharing with the broader engineering team.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance (TS preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 2 years on GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, VPC, IAM, GKE, and BigQuery.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Cloud Build.
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Preferred Skills
  • GCP Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer certification.
  • Experience supporting federal government contracts and understanding of ATO processes.
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
