Job Opening: Section Head of Oncology & Director of Tumor Program

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, is seeking a distinguished leader for the role of Section Head of Oncology and Director of the Liquid or Solid Tumor Program. This position is supported by an endowed faculty position/chair within the Department of Pediatrics.

The ideal candidate will have a national reputation in pediatric oncology, with a vision to advance all facets of a nationally recognized center, including clinical, research, educational, and advocacy missions. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of scholarly productivity, program development experience, and leadership skills. The goal is to elevate the Oncology Section and the Brain Tumor Program to new heights of excellence.

Current Program Overview

  • The Oncology Section includes 9 pediatric oncologists and 8 advanced practice providers, collaborating with pediatric surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and ancillary staff.
  • The program actively participates in clinical trials through investigator-initiated efforts and consortia such as COG, TACL, and others.
  • The Center is nationally ranked, with a team of 28 physician/physician-scientists, 2 PhD researchers, and 38 advanced practice providers across various specialties.
  • The research portfolio is diverse, including federally funded and industry-sponsored projects, with active participation in multiple consortium-led studies.
  • The center offers an ACGME-accredited fellowship program with 10-11 current fellows and advanced fellows.

Qualifications

  • MD or MD/PhD or equivalent degree.
  • Board certification in pediatric hematology/oncology.
  • Advanced training in pediatric oncology.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
