The Vice President of Information Technology oversees daily IT operations, ensuring efficient data processing, programming, networking, security, hardware, software, and project management. This leadership role collaborates with key IT leaders to maintain maximum system availability for all users and upholds UNCLE Credit Union’s member-first, digital-first, and cloud-based strategies. Additional responsibilities include effective communication, fostering a positive work environment, delivering exceptional service, and acting as backup for the CTO during absences or emergencies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Leadership & Management:
- Lead and motivate a team of Information Technology professionals through servant leadership.
- Foster a goal driven and self-development culture.
- Regularly conduct staff one-on-ones and division update meetings.
- Demonstrate professionalism, communication skills, and leadership associated with executive management.
- Manages the oversight of the business intelligence and data analytics program and reports on KPIs monthly.
- Manages the oversight of the IT Infrastructure, including hardware, software, and cloud-based solutions and reports on KPI’s monthly.
- Manages the oversight of the Information Security program and reports on KPI’s, audit findings and exceptions to policy monthly.
- Detect and correct system malfunctions and error situations, take appropriate action, and maintain communication with staff and management.
- Collaborate to ensure seamless member service.
- Uphold the credit union's CARE Philosophy.
- Regular participation on strategic committees including the Management, IT Steering, Expense Review, Strategic Plan Development and Business Continuity.

- Oversee the business continuity plan and business impact analysis, ensuring that critical operations can be maintained or quickly resumed in the event of disruption.
- Oversee the Information Technology disaster recovery plan and update it on an annual basis.
- Ensure all 3rd party solutions are operational, and connections to the core systems are maintained 24x7.
- Monitor supply chain communication and reports on security breaches or software security risks.
- Network Security / Cybersecurity:
- Ensure the security of the credit union’s data while in use, in transmission and at rest.
- Oversee network security protocols and manage the implementation of security measures.
- Oversees regular social engineering testing and information security training.
- Responsible for completing 3rd party vendor risk assessments.
- Works with examiners and auditors to complete annual compliance activities.
- Collaboration & Coordination:
- Frequently coordinate with other divisions on projects and advise on IT functionality.
- Support all divisions regarding IT, ensuring continuous operations, hardware and software updates, administration, and recovery.
- Work with the Training Department to ensure employees are well-trained in technology.
- Documentation & Procedures:
- Document the division’s processes, procedures, and configurations. Establish new procedures as required. Completes annual review PolicyTech documentation.
- Ensure all procedures related to job duties are updated with current changes.
- Regularly updating job descriptions to ensure accuracy and environmental changes are considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of: Principles and techniques of business processes, analysis, and design; principles of program design, coding, testing, and implementation; database functions and structure, client/server program design, coding, testing, and implementation; IT operations in a cloud environment; eneral office practices and procedures; Computer terminology; Computer software (i.e. Windows operating systems) and hardware; Credit union philosophy and terminology.
- Skill in: Operating personal computer equipment and various office equipment, such as calculator, copy machine, facsimile machine, laser printers, telephone system; Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to: Maintain confidentiality of classified information; Use computer software such as Microsoft Office applications; Manage multiple activities, set priorities and work in teams; manage and develop a team effectively; communicate effectively with employees in other departments; gather, analyze, and interpret information and develop, recommend and implement solutions; work under a variety of situations including weekend/late hours. Demonstrated ability to improve operations and streamline processes.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and five to ten years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
- Experience in administering a decentralized computer environment (preferably at a financial institution).
- Proven experience in IT leadership, preferably within the credit union or financial services industry.
- Strong experience with IT systems and operations, preferably with Symitar system and EASE environment.
Compensation
$170-200K/year DOE
