The Regional Director of Tax and Consulting oversees Savant’s regional Tax & Business service offering including accounting, tax, payroll, and business consulting services in addition to monitoring the daily production of Tax & Consulting client deliverables, and establishing department processes, procedures, and protocols.
The Regional Director of Tax and Consulting is also responsible for mentoring and developing team members and encouraging an environment conducive to Savant’s client centric approach.

The Regional Director of Tax and Consulting can expect to focus in the following areas:
- Manage, lead, and guide the Tax & Consulting Team with clear expectations and a roadmap for success
- Train, mentor and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment
- Review complex individual, trust, partnership and corporate tax returns
- Oversee the monthly accounting/financial statement preparation/payroll activities of the firm
- Develop and maintain compensation models for multi owner entities
- Understand and explain retirement plan options for various entities
- Maintain professional licenses and designations
- Provide research and analysis for complex tax transactions & topics, and communicate results
- Participate in federal and state tax examinations
- Ensure that tax advice and support provided via the Wealth Strategy Team is compliant with Federal and State statutes and is consistent with company policies
- Evaluate staffing needs and how best to fulfill those needs
- Utilize previous experience and unique abilities to help define and refine the strategic direction of the Team
- Develop and implement the Strategic Plan and OKRs for the Tax & Consulting Team
- Align departmental policies and procedures with corporate goals and objectives
- Act as a catalyst for new Tax & Consulting initiatives and the development of new products and deliverables
- Provide high net worth clients with strategic and proactive tax & business service strategies
- Design, administer and monitor Tax & Consulting programs to deliver an exceptional product and service to our clients
- Oversee fee-only tax & business service engagements (from engagement letter to billing), as appropriate
- Review and analyze new products, models, software, and vendors
- Facilitate communication and responsiveness between the Team and other internal and external teams
- Manage regional budget for the Tax & Consulting Team
- Assist the Managing Director, T&C on strategic planning and budgeting for department
- Manage engagements through a teaming structure, leveraging resources appropriately and developing a team that will enhance the client experience
- Facilitate educational and training opportunities for the Team
- Assist in Integrating staff acquired via acquisitions and tuck-ins
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement
- Performs other duties as requested
- Maintain team approach by assisting and filling in for others

- Select, supervise, empower, coach, develop, and retain a team of qualified individuals through effective hiring, employee development, performance management, succession planning, and recognition.
- Align team objectives and individual performance metrics directly with organizational strategic goals, ensuring clear communication and understanding of how team efforts contribute to broader company success.
- Collaboratively set challenging but realistic goals aligned with departmental and organizational objectives. Work with employees on a plan to achieve their goals.
- Oversee and lead staff, including hiring, assigning work, and recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
- Maintain open and effective communication, ensuring that team members are informed, engaged, and aligned with firm updates and strategic changes.
- Actively engage in ongoing coaching, providing regular, constructive feedback and guidance to foster professional growth and improvement.
- When managing subordinate supervisors, provide leadership, guidance, and resources needed to ensure they are effective in their management roles.
- Model exemplary conduct by consistently upholding the highest ethical and legal standards, and actively promote adherence to Savant’s policies, procedures, and core values.
- This position will be based out of our St. Charles or Rockford, IL office.
- This role requires travel 30% of the time.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
- Master’s in Taxation or other master’s degree in a related field preferred
- Active CPA license or EA license
- 10+ years proven success in the tax and/or financial services industry, management experience a plus
- 10+ years of individual and entity tax review experience
- Proven success in developing staff and managing a regional business.

At Savant, we are committed to supporting our employees' as well as investing in their well-being and growth. We take a market-based approach to compensation. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $173,000 – 230,000. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions. Additionally, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits.
