Role Description

The Chief Commercial Officer is a core member of the executive team, reporting to the CEO. You will design and execute the commercial strategy that drives Axio BioPharma’s next phase of growth, expand our client portfolio, and position the company for a successful exit. Your remit spans strategy, business development, sales, marketing, and team leadership. You will collaborate closely with R&D, operations, and regulatory groups to ensure commercial goals align with technical capabilities and market needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy aligned with company objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities in the global CDMO market.
  • Develop pricing frameworks and service packages that balance client value and company profitability.

Business Development and Sales Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing business development and sales team.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with biotech and pharmaceutical partners, closing high-value, multi-year contracts.
  • Lead revenue forecasting, pipeline management, and key account planning.

Marketing and Branding

  • Oversee integrated marketing campaigns that elevate brand awareness and thought leadership.
  • Refine messaging to highlight Axio BioPharma’s AI-enabled approach and differentiated speed-to-clinic value proposition.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, investor meetings, and trade shows.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with operations, R&D, and quality teams to ensure seamless project handoffs and on-time delivery.
  • Provide market insights that guide new service development and innovation priorities.
  • Work with the CEO and Board on long-term vision, strategic partnerships, and potential M&A targets.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in commercial leadership roles within the biopharmaceutical or CDMO sector.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing commercial strategies that generated $100 million+ in cumulative revenue or contract value.
  • Significant experience selling mammalian protein production or related biomanufacturing services.
  • Proven ability to hire, develop, and lead high-performing teams across sales, marketing, and business development.
  • Deep understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, especially monoclonal antibody development.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills with C-suite and technical buyers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in working with early-stage biopharma companies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and data analytics tools to track and report sales performance.
  • AI proficiency using the latest technologies (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Grok) to enhance, scale, and accelerate key responsibilities of the role.

  • Base salary $200,000 – 300,000 per year, plus performance-based bonus, and equity.
