Role Description
We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support our Places Design & Engineering group. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in facility design, working with multidisciplinary teams on various projects from pursuit to construction. You will lead fire protection disciplines across multiple projects, ensuring compliance and innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead design teams, mentor junior staff, and develop construction-ready design packages including drawings and specifications, with expertise in fire alarm and suppression systems, smoke control, and related technologies.
- Maintain deep knowledge of life safety codes and industry standards such as NFPA, NEC, NESC, UL, UFC, and UFGS.
- Develop budgets, proposals, schedules, and staffing plans; identify and pursue new project opportunities, particularly with federal agencies.
- Utilize design and modeling software including Revit, BIM, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and SpecsIntact.
- Conduct site surveys and collaborate with clients at project locations, especially in heavy industrial, commercial, and manufacturing facilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or fire protection engineering.
- 10-15 years of consulting engineering experience with facility design.
- Professional Engineering licensure in the U.S.
- Proven experience with IFC design packages for federal projects.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to foster positive relationships with clients and internal teams.
