Position: Fire Protection Engineer - Federal Government Projects
Location: USA Remote (domestic travel up to 35%)

Role Description
We are looking to hire a Fire Protection Engineer to support our Places Design & Engineering group. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in facility design related to U.S. Federal Agencies. You will collaborate with Fire Prevention Engineers, multidisciplinary engineers, project managers, and clients on federal facility projects, leading the fire protection discipline through all project phases.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead design teams and mentor junior staff to develop construction-ready design packages, including drawings and specifications, with inter-discipline coordination. Must have advanced technical knowledge of fire alarm and suppression systems, smoke control, and related technologies.
- Deep knowledge of life safety codes.
- Familiarity with industry standards and building codes such as NFPA, NEC, NESC, UL, UFC, and UFGS.
- Develop budgets, proposals, schedules, and project plans. Build relationships with federal agencies and pursue new project opportunities.
- Proficiency in design and modeling software including Revit, BIM, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and SpecsIntact.
- Travel to project sites for surveys, data collection, and collaboration.
- Design fire protection systems for industrial, commercial, and manufacturing facilities such as water treatment sites, EV plants, lithium-ion battery plants, and data centers.
Qualifications & Experience
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or fire protection engineering with 10-15 years of relevant experience.
- Fire Protection Professional Engineer license in the U.S.
- Experience producing IFC design packages for federal facilities.
- Strong communication skills for presentations and documentation.
- Ability to build positive relationships with team members and clients to foster new opportunities.
