Base pay range

$85,150.00/yr - $153,925.00/yr

We are seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to join our team. The role involves working on projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV, providing exposure to power generation, including renewable energy integration. Candidates should have knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits to design substation electrical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in executing substation physical projects
  • Excellent communication skills for team and client interaction
  • Perform quality control on design projects
  • Read and design physical drawings such as one-line, three-line, foundation, grounding drawings
  • Create and review bill of materials
  • Attend site visits at customer locations

Candidates must adhere to quality and safety standards, and work within project scope, schedule, and budget. The role involves working with a team of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians, following client standards.

Qualifications

  • Mid-Level: Bachelor’s in electrical engineering with 2+ years of experience
  • Senior-Level: Bachelor’s with 4+ years of experience
  • Lead-Level: Bachelor’s with 8+ years of experience
  • Experience with grounding, lightning protection, and lighting studies
  • Strong communication and team skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • US Citizenship and ability to pass a DOE Background check
  • Engineer Intern (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE) licenses
  • Knowledge of protection/control design, bus calculations, WinIGS or CDEGS
  • Master’s degree in related field
