Pay Details
The Kennedy Center strives to design equitable compensation programs. The projected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This is the targeted range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. This range may be modified in the future. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate’s skills, expertise, and experience as it relates to the position qualifications and responsibilities.
Job Description
This is a full-time, benefits eligible limited term position with a 4-year contract.
The Project Management Office (PMO) of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts manages all design, engineering, and construction projects supporting the Presidential monument. The Director of PMO supervises project managers across various technical disciplines. The Project Manager (PM) will oversee projects requiring expertise in structural engineering, managing planning, design, acquisition, construction, change management, and outfitting for the Center and REACH expansion. The role involves coordinating with stakeholders and departments to ensure project success within schedule and budget, with minimal operational disruption.
Key Responsibilities
Project Design Management
- Guide and assist end users during design, construction, and turnover phases.
- Review and comment on designs, specifications, and documentation.
- Develop scope of work for RFPs, review A/E proposals, and manage design schedules.
- Estimate costs, perform value engineering, and manage design activities.
- Recommend project delivery systems and develop construction schedules.
- Maintain project files and act as Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative.
Project Construction Management
- Oversee construction activities, monitor schedules and budgets, and manage change orders.
- Coordinate responses to RFI, manage project closeout, and ensure proper documentation.
Program-wide Tasks
- Assist in developing reports, capital plans, and other program-wide documents.
Key Qualifications
- 5+ years managing complex projects from concept to completion.
- Bachelor’s in Structural Engineering or related field; licensed engineer preferred.
- Deep knowledge of structural concepts, project management, and federal contracting practices.
- Effective communication skills, ability to develop consensus, and proficiency with project management software.
- Willingness to work onsite in the DMV area; relocation assistance not provided.

- Work involves indoor and outdoor environments, including construction sites.
- Physical activities include walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and climbing stairs/ladders.
