The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects valued up to $50 million. This role involves analyzing plans and specifications, developing quantities, soliciting subcontractor and supplier pricing, and assembling competitive bids and proposals.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly analytical, and experienced in estimating large-scale site development, infrastructure, and heavy civil work.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret civil construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, paving, concrete, and related civil scopes.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for projects up to $50M.
• Develop and maintain historical cost data for future reference.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners to ensure competitive pricing and reliable project execution.
• Clarify scope, schedule, and technical requirements during the bidding process.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field staff to ensure estimates are realistic and achievable.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and value-engineering discussions.
• Present cost estimates and bid proposals to company leadership.

Process & Quality Control

• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all estimates with client requirements and project specifications.
• Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and constructability issues early in the process.
• Keep up-to-date with industry pricing trends, market conditions, and technological advancements.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• 5+ years of civil construction estimating experience, preferably on projects between $10M–$50M.
• Strong knowledge of earthwork, site utilities, concrete, roadways, and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, CAD).
• Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Certifications (Preferred)

• OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Certification
• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) through ASPE
