SUMMARY

The Plastic Compression Mold Lead will oversee the operations of our compression molding department and manage a team of technicians. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, extensive experience in operating and setting up compression and transfer molding machinery, and the ability to lead with professionalism. This role requires expertise in handling compression molding materials, inspecting parts, reading blueprints, and ensuring efficient, high-quality production. Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the setup and operation of up to 10 compression and transfer molding machines to produce high-quality plastic parts.
  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of molding technicians, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts using calipers, ohm meters, gauges, and other precision tools.
  • Read and interpret computerized work instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure accurate production.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and resolve issues with molds, machines, and materials to maintain optimal performance.
  • Clean machinery after each run and perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of compression and transfer molding machines, meeting or exceeding efficiency quotas.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace utilizing 5S strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to improve processes and product quality.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report operational metrics to management.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and Aerospace standards (knowledge preferred but not required).
  • Foster a positive team environment, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support company operations.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ plus years previous experience working as a machine operator.
  • Proven experience in setting up and operating molding machinery.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and tracking production metrics.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with molding materials and processes

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

  • Mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and proactive.
  • Excellent work ethic and commitment to safety.
  • Strong visual acuity and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs. and stand for the entire shift.
  • Comfortable working in ambient air temperature conditions.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to foster a collaborative work environment.

Work Schedule : Monday to Thursday 5am to 3:30pm (Off Fridays).
