We are a dynamic and growing company seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Coordinator to oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate payroll records, improving processes, and supporting financial reporting.

About the Role:

As a Senior Payroll Coordinator you will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. You will collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors to streamline payroll functions and support financial reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of multi-state payroll taxation, payroll accounting, and system integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and process payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  2. Reconcile payroll-related accounts and prepare journal entries for month-end close
  3. Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll tax laws, including withholding, unemployment, and other reporting requirements
  4. Maintain accurate payroll records, including benefits, deductions, and garnishments
  5. Partner with HR and Finance to optimize payroll processes and implement best practices
  6. Assist with payroll audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting
  7. Support system implementations and upgrades related to payroll processing
  8. Analyze payroll data and provide insights to management for decision-making

Qualifications:

  1. 5-8 years of payroll and accounting experience, with expertise in multi-state payroll processing
  2. Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and accounting principles
  3. Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom, or similar)
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems
  5. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  6. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  7. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  8. Payroll certifications (CPP, FPC) a plus
