The Bio-Chemical Engineer works alongside the production team in order to establish a cost effective and safe biological program. The Bio-Chemical Engineer is directly responsible for the management of all biological systems and processes within the mill division.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Bio-Chemical Engineer's primary responsibilities as part of the mill operational team include, but are not limited to:
- Install, commission and drive the operation of biocide systems and processes
- Additional duties as assigned by management
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Bio-Chemical Engineering
- Experience with paper mill biology
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, manuals, regulations, and codes
- Ability to write business reports and correspondence
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, and employees
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear
- Employee is frequently required to stand; use hands, feel; and reach with hands and arms
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and booms
- Ability to work at heights
- Travel up to 50%
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
