Unit L&D # of L&D Beds -14 # of OR Suites-2 over on postpartum side # of triage beds-Triage is done in labor and delivery # of Postpartum beds-0 # of births per day, per year- 3-4average a day, 1100 last year Do ratios follow AWHONN guidelines? yes Required Certifications- NRP,ACLS,BLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring Common diagnoses/Types of patients- Laboring, Inductions, cesareans, antepartum with issues, fetal demises, Triage patients of concerns of 20 weeks or greater Experience or 'Must have' skills- 2 years of current labor and delivery experience Are RNs required to titrate drips? - yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips- Pitocin, insulin, magnesium Charge Nurse/House Supervisor- Usually free Charge nurse Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit?- 1 OB Tech OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7? Yes RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc)- Pulse ox monitors used routinely Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips?-Yes, for Mag moms EFM System- Fetal link with Cerner Shifts & Scheduling- 3 times a week Weekend Requirement- 1 every other weekend Holiday Requirement- 1 major 2 minor- Is there a call or standby requirement?- Yes 1 on call shift every 2 weeks Floating Requirements- No Scrub Color/Dress code- They are light blue and supplied to them here every shift Unit/Department specific orientation- 1 day orientation.
