Family Birthing Center RN – L&D + Mother/Baby (Acute Care)

Unit: Family Birthing Center – L&D & Mother/Baby (Antepartum/Postpartum)
Shift: 12-hr Nights | Every Other Weekend | First to Float
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Trauma Level: II
Charting: Cerner
 

Requirements:

  • Active California RN license
  • 2+ years L&D experience (no first-time travelers)
  • Certs: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring.
  • Must be able to circulate C-sections (2 RNs – 1 for mom, 1 for baby; both circulate).
  • Ability to read/interpret EKG strips.
  • Two supervisory references required (1 within last 12 months, 1 within last 3 years).

Unit Details:

  • Ratios: 1:2 L&D | 1:1 delivery | 1:4 MB couplets
  • Patient Mix: Term, preterm, some high risk | Antepartum population
  • Support Staff: OB surgical techs, nurse aides (as staffing allows), Charge RN (break relief, rarely takes patients)
  • 24/7 Support: OB hospitalist | Intensivist | RT | Pharmacy | Anesthesia
  • Volume: Baby-friendly hospital with strong lactation & breastfeeding support

Scheduling & Float:

  • OT & extra shifts available | Self-scheduling (finalized by Manager)
  • Rotating holidays with staff
  • Floating: May float to other Sacramento facilities (rare mid-shift)
  • Call: If placed on call, 30-minute response time
