Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)


Facility: Cape Fear Valley Medical Center
Location: 1638 Owen Dr, Fayetteville, NC 28304
Unit: 2 North - MS/Tele with Behavioral Health Focus
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: 08/11/2025
Shift: Option to choose between 36-hour or 48-hour schedules.

  • Night Shift: 4x12-Hour (19:00–07:00) - 48 hours/week
  • Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00–07:00) - 36 hours/week

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced MS/Tele RN for a unique combined medical-surgical and behavioral health unit in a Level III Trauma Center . This role requires dual competency in managing acute medical conditions while addressing behavioral health needs.

 

Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active NC or Compact RN License (no pending licenses)
  • BLS (AHA required)
  • Must pass Advanced EKG exam (no exceptions)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years MS/Tele experience
  • Required Skills:
    • Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
    • De-escalation techniques for behavioral health patients
    • Management of medical conditions with psychiatric comorbidities
  • Epic proficiency (required)

Unit & Facility Details

  • Patient Ratio: 1:5–6
  • Facility Type: 733-bed teaching hospital
  • Specialty Focus:
    • Dual-diagnosis patients (medical + behavioral health)
    • Post-surgical recovery with psychiatric considerations
  • Scrub Color: Royal blue and white

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms
  • Manage patients with:
    • CHF, COPD, diabetes
    • Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance withdrawal
  • Implement trauma-informed care approaches
  • Coordinate with psychiatrists and medical teams
  • Administer medications including psychotropics
