Bartender – Five of Clubs
About The Position
We are looking for talented bartenders for the Five of Clubs bar within the Longfellow Hotel. Five of Clubs serves beautifully crafted cocktails, a small wine and beer selection alongside an elevated bar menu. Our ideal candidate is warm, hospitable and a team player!
What We Expect Job duties include but are not limited to:
Prepare and serve a selection of wines, spirits, and mixed drinks from the menu while ensuring proper pouring, mixing, and blending according to established recipes and established Longfellow Standards
Maintain a strong working knowledge of all alcoholic and non-alcoholic ingredients and drinks/food to answer questions and accommodate off-menu requests
Building rapport with the guest with above and beyond service
Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and offer suggestions, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests
Service and take orders from guests seated at the bar area offering interesting, and vivid descriptions of each item’s, origin, taste, and preparation methods; maintain a working knowledge of liquors, wines, beers, ports, specialty drinks and food menus
Assist with set-up and cleaning of operational areas
Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management
Comply with Longfellow and SLH workplace rules and standards of conduct
Who You Are Ideal candidates will have:
High school education or equivalent experiences
Minimum two years bartending or related work
Must be able to obtain any required food handing or alcohol serving certifications required by local or state agencies. (BABLO)
Hotel/resort experience preferred
Knowledge of Portland and surrounding areas, highly desirable, however not required
Must be able to be on feet for entire shift and communicate with guests appropriately and effectively
Above and beyond attitude is required as well as a flexible schedule with ability to work weekends/holidays and evenings
Works in a careful and meticulous nature
Strong written and oral presentation skills
Ability to multi-task in a high volume and demanding environment
Strong interpersonal and team player skills
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations and guests

Benefits & Compensation Information
$9.00 Per Hour + Tips
Guaranteed Minimum of $25.00 Per Hour
