Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Estimator to join their team, specializing in interior construction projects such as office fit-outs, retail spaces, hospitality environments, and healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and collaborating with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project scope to develop detailed cost estimates.
- Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for all trades involved in interior construction.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Prepare bid packages and proposals for clients, including value engineering options.
- Collaborate with project managers and design teams to align estimates with project goals and timelines.
- Maintain and update historical cost data and unit pricing databases.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
- Monitor market trends, labor rates, and material costs to ensure accurate forecasting.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Commercial Estimator in interior construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with LEED or sustainable building practices.
- Familiarity with design-build and negotiated bid processes.
- Strong relationships with local subcontractors and suppliers.
