Role Overview: Demonstrating the tenets of our Professional Practice Model, Relationship Based Care(RBC), provides professional nursing care at the competent level which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with care standards. Contributes to a safe and therapeutic environment that is centered on the needs of patients, caregivers, and others showing concern for the patient's privacy, comfort, and emotional state. Treats patients with consideration of age, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic background, and culture in a caring, ethical, and professional manner. Applies the nursing process to care delivery Performance Improvement
Demonstrates understanding of nurse sensitive indicators (CAUTI, CLABSI, HAPU, Falls, Extravasation, patient satisfaction, Retained Foreign Objects, etc) and associated data trends at the unit level. Seeks opportunities to improve unit based nursing practice and associated patient outcomes within the shared governance council structure by contributing to quality assurance and/or performance improvement activities. Demonstrates professional accountability in documenting care provided. Ensures compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements for documentation and information management. Contributes to the development of documentation systems that aligns technology with nursing practice. Effectively communicates patient information utilizing handoff during transitions in care. Supports a spirit of inquiry by identifying clinical questions and collaborates with colleagues to review relevant literature. Utilizes resources to apply available evidence in clinical practice. In collaboration with the research study team, implements study requirements and supports patients enrolled in clinical research trials. Staff Education
Demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning as evidenced by individual professional development through ongoing assessment of learning needs; attends unit based, divisional, and departmental educational offerings; and pursues clinical knowledge and skill development through outreach to senior staff, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Nursing Professional Development Specialists. Applies Adult Learning Theory contributes to the learning environment by sharing knowledge and participating in orientation of new staff to the unit. Leadership
