The Salisbury VA Medical Center is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join our team! Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Call Coverage: Per rotation, 1 week every 5 weeks Academic Affiliation: Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Position Requirements:
* U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA policy. * Education: A Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required. * Licensure: Candidates must possess a current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. * Residency: Completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty. * Board Certification: Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Ophthalmology. * Experience: Preferred experience in treating medical retina conditions with anti-VEGF therapies, basic glaucoma, and cataracts.

* Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases. * Paid Time Off: days per year (including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and a possible five-day paid absence for CME). * Retirement: Traditional federal pension (vesting after 5 years) and a federal 401(k) with up to 5% contributions by VA. * Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many federal programs can be carried into retirement). * Licensure: One full, unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory. * CME: Possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification). * Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. * Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
