Job Summary:
Builders is a mid-sized mutual insurance company known for its strong financial performance and award-winning culture. The Director of IT Operations will lead the IT department, overseeing the development of solutions, cloud infrastructure, and technical analysis while aligning departmental goals with the company's strategic direction.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with leadership colleagues to analyze the company’s strategic plans and develop efficient, cost-effective goals for the division that align with the company's overall direction. Communicate these goals and related initiatives throughout the organization, and work with direct reports to incorporate the goals into departmental and individual objectives.
• Provide leadership with informed recommendations and proposals on emerging technologies, helping to guide strategic decisions and technology adoption. Champion operational excellence via automation, process enhancements, and implementation of industry best practices.
• Oversee and manage projects, ensuring adherence to project management standards. Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to keep leadership updated on project progress and key initiatives.
• Provide guidance for configuring cloud resources, identifying opportunities for enhancing system performance, and developing contingency plans and resources.
• Manage relationships with managed service providers(MSPs), mailroom operations providers and other IT vendors and partners. Oversee operational and budget administration, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and efficient use of resources.
• Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff to build a robust, cross-functional team. Prioritize and assign team members to projects. Provide or arrange training for direct reports, conduct performance evaluations and mentor technology staff. Promote a collaborative culture aligned with company values.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulations through ongoing professional development to ensure continued effectiveness and compliance.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Ten or more years of progressively complex experience in supervising and directing the work of Information Technology staff with varying levels of experience
• Ability to lead projects and motivate cross-functional teams while thriving in a fast-paced growing company
• Knowledge of technology development, cloud infrastructure, programming, regulatory standards, IT best practices and assessment methodologies
• Experience working with managed service providers (MSPs) to support private and public cloud infrastructure
• Proficient in both verbal and written communication enabling the clear presentation of complex technical information to diverse audiences
• Skill in prioritization, organization and time management with attention to detail to ensure tasks and deliverables are completed with accuracy and precision
• Skill in interpersonal interactions, capable of positively engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to effectively resolve issues and conflicts; ability to build strong relationships with information security counterparts in customer and partner organizations
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and function specific software applications
