Position Overview
Our Client is seeking an experienced Lead Structural Fabricator who thrives in a hands-on leadership role. This is a working lead position, requiring both technical expertise and day-to-day oversight of shop floor operations. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality structural steelwork, excels in problem-solving, and leads by example to inspire team performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Actively fabricate structural steel components while managing daily operations on the shop floor.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for layout, welding techniques, and fabrication strategy.
  • Interpret and work from structural blueprints, drawings, and specifications with precision.
  • Plan and execute advanced layout and fitting tasks using proper jigs, tools, and equipment.
  • Conduct in-process inspections to ensure quality and structural standards are consistently met.
  • Mentor junior fabricators and support the onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Operate key fabrication equipment including press brakes, shears, saws, and plasma cutters.
  • Promote productivity and maintain adherence to project deadlines and safety protocols.
  • Model and enforce workplace safety practices while maintaining a clean and organized environment.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of structural steel welding and fabrication experience, including 1+ year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team while actively contributing to hands-on fabrication work.
  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding on structural steel and stainless steel materials.
  • Strong blueprint reading, layout, and fitting capabilities.
  • Familiarity with structural welding standards such as AWS D1.1.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, and a collaborative work ethic.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Forklift certification or experience is a plus.
