We're seeking passionate Cooks I to bring their skills to our dynamic team. Your Role: As a Cook I, you'll be instrumental in crafting delicious dishes while prioritizing food safety. From gourmet meals to campus favorites, you'll utilize a variety of cooking skills and equipment to deliver exciting and fun dining experiences. This position is an academic position. This person will work from August - May with summers off. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Duties & Responsibilities Prepares, seasons and cooks a wide variety of food for various food service units. Cooks according to recipes and requires knowledge of basic kitchen equipment. Prepares food on hot or cold production line, adhering to the recipe's method of preparation. Prepares food items from recipes for restaurant on a daily basis. Performs food preparation tasks such as sandwich, salad making and beverage preparation, following written standardized recipes. Coordinates food preparation and ordering needs with supervisor and p.m. staff. Cleans and processes fruits and vegetables according to recipe's specifications. Labels, dates and stores fruits and vegetables in proper areas. Assembles necessary ingredients to prepare orders. Assists cold food production when possible. Prevents cross contamination of food products. Weighs, labels and dates all food items; storing in designated areas. Cleans countertops, windows, walls, shelves, drain screens and floor mats. Cleans cooking utensils, grills, oven hoods, and other equipment used in food preparation; ensuring all utensils are properly stored. Empties sanitizer and takes out trash. Greets and serves customers in a friendly courteous manner. Actively solves problems wherever possible. Works harmoniously with co-workers, supervisors and management. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of food service operations including large quantity food preparation. Knowledge of job content, practices, and procedures. Skills necessary to fully perform all aspects of the job. Skills in operating various institutional and commercial kitchen equipment. Ability to effectively communicate. Physical requirements: Must be able to lift/transport and move a maximum of 50 lbs. Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, days and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

2-3 years relevant experience.
