Solution Architect - Trading

(CST). At Chevron, the Solution Architect for Trading scheduling plays a critical leadership role in shaping the future of scheduling applications. This role is responsible for defining and guiding the architecture of a diverse suite of trading scheduling solutions-ranging from in-house applications using programming languages like C#, python and .NET to third-party tools integrated with internal systems like Right Angle, TSW, SAP and Azure. The architect will lead the modernization and standardization of these solutions, ensuring they are scalable, robust, and aligned with business needs across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. In addition to architectural responsibilities, this role will temporarily lead the scheduling development team-prioritizing work, supporting delivery, and mentoring software engineers. The architect will collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders. The architect must understand the trading lifecycle to design effective, integrated systems and support their team Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Define and evolve a unified architectural strategy for Chevron's scheduling suite, including future solutions using Microsoft Azure services and microservice architecture.
Lead the modernization of legacy scheduling applications into scalable, cloud-native, and modular architectures.
Temporarily lead and prioritize the work of the scheduling team, ensuring alignment with business priorities and delivery timelines.
Develop and maintain architectural blueprints, solution designs, and technical documentation.
Collaborate with scheduling engineers, UI/UX developers, data engineers, DevOps, and product owners to ensure architectural alignment across teams.
Establish and enforce standards for deployment, versioning, model governance, and integration patterns.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge.
Design reusable architectural components for scheduling workflows and reporting.
Guide the integration of scheduling models with enterprise and third-party systems (e.g., Right Angle, Endur, SAP, JDE).
Support long-term vision for real-time data integration using Microservices architecture pattern.
Monitor and manage the costs associated with cloud services and solutions.
Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
Lead architectural reviews and mentor junior architects and engineers.
Ensure solutions are scalable, testable, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.
Partner with DevOps and platform teams to ensure CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code practices are in place.
Collaborate with data architects to ensure scheduling models are production-ready and integrated into enterprise applications.
Contribute to the development of architectural documentation, best practices, and knowledge-sharing across teams.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in solution architecture, preferably with exposure to Trading Scheduling or Data architecture or similar role.
Demonstrated experience designing and delivering enterprise-grade software systems.
Experience leading technical teams or cross-functional initiatives is strongly preferred.
Skilled in designing and implementing cloud-native solutions using a wide stack of Microsoft Azure services, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, among others.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the oil and gas industry or other asset-intensive sectors (e.g., manufacturing, logistics).
Experience with Trading tools (e.g., Right Angle, Endur) and how they integrate into enterprise applications (Sales Force, SAP).
Understanding of scheduling domain such as pipeline scheduling, vessel routing, refining, and blending.
Experience with application security, compliance, and governance in enterprise environments.
