Job Summary
The Associate Dean provides administrative oversight to personnel and management of procedures and processes at Cooper Memorial Library. The Associate Dean will coordinate library-related activities and collaborate with personnel from across the college and community in support of the College's mission. The Associate Dean will create recommendations for, as well as participate in the implementation of, library services that meet the academic and informational needs of students and patrons at Cooper Memorial Library. Responsible for promoting and sustaining a collegial, respectful, and high-performing work environment for all employees.
Responsible for demonstrating LSSC's core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Act as Director of Library Services for Cooper Memorial Library, South Lake Campus, coordinating the operations of the library at that location. Collaborate with the Dean and Lake County library services management to oversee day-to-day college library operations. Partner with other Learning Service Departments on projects and initiatives. Provide supervisory duties over the public service areas of the library. Coordinate the hiring and scheduling of student employees. Supervise librarian faculty. Guide faculty and staff on issues and trends in librarianship, such as copyright compliance, intellectual property rights, digitizing collections, preserving digital archives, and methods for supporting the academic needs of students utilizing distance education. Ensure that Library and Learning Services are responsive to changing modes of research, study, knowledge acquisition, and production. Actively consult with campus library partners and end users to assess their experiences with services and resources, as well as usability challenges and issues they encounter. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new developments in educational technology and champion their use with students and faculty. Provide reference, instruction, workshops, and instructional sessions as needed in person and virtual environments. Provide vision and dynamic leadership for integrated and innovative library and learning services under the direction of the Dean of Library and Learning Services (Dean) to enhance and support curriculum, instruction, and student success. Work collaboratively with committees regarding collegewide issues concerning library and learning services operations to ensure consistency in service, with a focus on the South Lake Campus of LSSC. Participate in campus leadership team functions, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Exceptional people skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds. Demonstrated quantitative, organizational, and technical skills adequate to help design, monitor, and interpret assessment results. Familiarity with student learning outcomes assessment and how this process relates to program and institution accreditation. Minimum Qualifications & Education
Master's degree in library science from an accredited institution. Three to four years of academic librarian experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
