Patient Care Tech

The Patient Care Technician performs patient related care tasks (direct care, bathing, oral care, feeding). Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides direct patient care under supervision of Nurse. Obtains and records patient vital signs. Monitors and records daily intake and output. Obtains specimens, including non-invasive body fluids and blood specimens. Monitors and performs actions to decrease patient length of stay including but not limited to: use of computerized Bed Tracking System, performing timely designated discharge duties, and communicating discharge information to appropriate staff. Assists Physician/Nurse with diagnostic tests, clinical procedures, and other tasks as requested. Communicates patient needs and observed/reported changes in patient condition to supervising Nurse or Physician. Documents all interactions in patient's medical record. The PCT may assist nursing in the retrieval and delivering of medications per the unit standard. Minimum: AZ CNA License, LNA, Basic EMT (with 6 months experience), or Completion of first block of nursing program. American Heart Association BLS certification.
