zOS Systems Programmer & Automation
Location: Remote
Key Activities Performed • Install, upgrade, maintain and customise the z/OS operating system covering z/OS, RACF, JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP, HCD, WLM. • Install, upgrade, maintain and customise other z/OS related IBM and OEM products. • Perform SMP/E tasks. • Work with multi-CPU & Sysplex environment • Apply planned maintenances, monitor product PTFs to make sure the products are up to date • Work with REXX Scripts, Assembler, JCL • Top Secret/ACF2/RACF PTF Implementations • Proactively monitor z/OS and related software and to take action to prevent potential issues and to maximise performance. • To improve such monitoring and increase automation where possible. • To maintain robustness of the configuration and to maintain and test the mainframe DR solution. • To produce technical recommendations and service and stability improvements in line with business requirements. • Gather information and produce reports to satisfy client and vendor requirements such as SCRT reporting.
Required Skill set • Extensive SMP/E knowledge • Knowledge on REXX, assembler, JCL • Strong knowledge of WLM, RMF, CA Products, HCD • Experienced at troubleshooting performance issues in a z/OS environment • Working experience in a multi-CPU & Sysplex environment • VTAM/TCPIP Network administration • Working knowledge of other sub systems like DB2, ADABAS, IMS, CICS • Knowledge of working in Multi-Processor / Multi-LPAR environment and SYSPLEX • Knowledge of Mainframe Disks, replication and tools such as CSM • Storage administration such as initializing disks, re-organizing files and updating SMS definitions would be advantageous
