UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011. Lifesharing is seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to fill a critically important position in the Transplant Community. The role of procurement coordinator is unique and pivotal in healthcare, focusing on saving and extending lives. Procurement coordinators work independently across hospitals in San Diego and Imperial Counties, combining clinical expertise and interpersonal skills to work with donor families, critical care staff, and transplant teams to recover organs for transplantation. Responsibilities include evaluating potential donors on-site, guiding families through donation decisions, managing donor clinical care to ensure organ viability, locating recipients, and recovering organs. They also liaise with hospital personnel, ICU staff, and physicians to foster relationships and provide education about organ donation. The nurse in this role practices autonomously, assessing and providing nursing actions based on competence, expertise, and knowledge, in accordance with ANA standards. Independent judgment is exercised within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary care approaches. All performance expectations are at the PRACTITIONER Level. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from an accredited Nursing school RN License issued by the State of California BART or BLS certification at hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months Two years of ICU or equivalent experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
BSN ACLS and/or ART certification Experience developing education plans for new staff Understanding of families in crisis Experience in organ/tissue donation and recovery Ability to connect genuinely with families, physicians, and hospital leadership Ability to work independently and professionally in all environments Two years of organ procurement/recovery experience SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Availability to work various hours and locations as needed Employment subject to background check and physical Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $131,335 - $184,078 (prorated if part-time) Hourly Range: $62.90 - $88.16 Salary factors include experience, skills, knowledge, education, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. The posted pay scale is an estimate, with actual pay determined by various factors.
