Job Description
The successful candidate will oversee an in-house legal team. As an insurance coverage practice lead, the leader will set the vision and strategy for a countrywide centralized attorney practice team focused on specific coverage areas (e.g., Casualty - Bodily Injury, Home, Catastrophe). The leader will manage field leaders and a team of insurance defense lawyers providing legal representation to Allstate insureds and/or the Allstate Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all litigation aspects. This leader will oversee litigation across the centralized team, with attorneys managing cases from inception to resolution, including legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs, and settlement negotiations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop vision and strategic plan for the centralized coverage team
Oversee representation and case management for specific coverage categories
Manage a multi-million dollar budget for the nationwide team
Ensure operational excellence and efficiencies in partnership with Claims, focusing on customer experience and cost management
Establish Service Level Agreements with business partners
Collaborate with support staff, including paralegals and legal administration
Partner with Legal Operations to innovate practices, including process design, technology, and data management
Monitor legal expenses and collaborate with claims regarding factors influencing costs
Stay updated on laws and regulations, advising the business accordingly
Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal matters and agreements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Juris Doctor (Required)
12+ years of experience (Preferred)
Equivalent education and experience may be considered
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
License to practice law in the United States in good standing is required

Compensation
Annual salary ranges from $200,000 to $269,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
The candidate will be required to undergo a background check.
