This position is Pilot in Command (PIC) for 747 flight operations. PIC or ability to obtain PIC in 747 aircraft is required. Additional responsibilities include: mission planning and airworthiness discussions; testing and implementing process improvements; readiness meetings; relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performing a variety of complicated tasks.
Who You Are and What You Need:
Knowledge and proficient understanding of DoD and FAA aviation rules and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of the theory of flight, air navigation, meteorology, FAA and ICAO directives/instructions, aircraft operating procedures, and flight operations
FAA commercial instrument or ATP certificate
747-4 and 747-8 type ratings
Valid FAA proficiency check completed within the last 2 years, including type rating if required
Meet recency of experience requirements per 14 CFR 61.57
Valid FAA Class II medical
Government-issued photo ID
Minimum of 10 years of experience as an active pilot crewmember with aircrew instructor/evaluator qualifications and prior operations experience in heavy jet aircraft
Familiarity with USAF operational/test instructions, FAA policies/regulations, and mission planning software
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
What You Will Do:
Provide PIC flight support for all aspects of 747 flight and ground operations including flight planning meetings, preflight inspections, flight testing, ground testing, offsite trouble shooting and product employment considerations
Conduct flight test and evaluations
Conduct ferry flights under FAA Special Flight Permits
PIC for flight operations in 747 aircraft at various locations
Support remote working meetings in connection with flight operations and execution
Maintain FAA ratings and recency of experience requirements for 747 PIC
Provide technical support to aircraft programs
Collect, analyze, and track aircraft Quality Performance Indicators and make recommendations to Program Managers to improve aircraft reliability and maintainability
Other duties as required
