Summary Description:Directs the oversight, development and management of individual and group strength and conditioning programs for all student-athletes participating in the College’s two Division I programs (Men’s Ice Hockey & Women’s Soccer) and 15 Division III programs. Responsibilities:• Develop the strength & conditioning program’s core philosophy for the physical training of Colorado College’s intercollegiate athletes. • Responsible for the performance coaching applied to specific sports programs while designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence and scientific-based strength and conditioning programs. The programs may include, but are not limited to, warm-up, flexibility, speed and agility improvement, body composition management (in coordination with Registered Dietician), injury rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols in coordination with the sports medicine staff for assigned teams and programs assigned for evaluation. • In close partnership with the Sports Medicine team, create and lead an environment that supports the health, welfare, physical and scholastic development of the student-athletes. • Conduct administrative responsibilities that include, but are not limited to: - The hiring, supervision, and evaluation of strength & conditioning assistant coach(es). - Development, direction, evaluation and supervision of an internship program. - Direct management and oversight of all strength & conditioning facilities. - Budget oversight for strength & conditioning, and procurement of equipment in accordance with college guidelines and industry standards. - Development of a plan for equipment replacement. - The development of policies and procedures for risk management, appropriate supervision and scheduling of rooms and staff, record keeping, maintenance/cleaning, and evaluation of student-athletes. - Schedule and lead regular strength & conditioning staff team meetings. - Consultation and feedback with the senior staff athletic team as needed. • Coordinate regular and appropriate lines of communication with student-athletes, sports medicine staff, sport coaches, and direct supervisor. • Manage, utilize, report daily & communicate to the sport coaching staff for internal and external load data systems (Global Positioning System and Heart Rate), and recommend ways to improve practice & training management from data metrics. • Ensure compliance with NCAA applicable rules for strength and conditioning at Division I and III levels as well as other Conference affiliated, Athletic Department, industry, and institutional guidelines, recommendations, and regulations, and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes is protected at all times. • Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to individual sports & strength and conditioning areas. • Work extended hours, weekends and travel as required. o Support and actively contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity, inclusion and equity at Colorado College and work effectively with all members of the campus community. o Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training. o Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college’s sustainability initiatives and innovation. o Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, health sciences, strength training or related field plus a minimum of 3 years of experience as a strength & conditioning coach at the collegiate or professional level of athletics that includes supervisory experience; demonstrated experience supervising the physical conditioning, weight training and weight/dietary needs of student-athletes; experience with instruction and coaching proper techniques of mobility, plyometrics, speed, agility, Olympic and traditional lifting, core training and metabolic conditioning; demonstrated experience working with coaches in developing sport specific programs; must have excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), planning, problem solving, negotiation, organizational, analytical and customer service skills; strong leadership/supervisory skills that guide the success and development of others while influencing and building work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels; a passion for coaching and teaching athletes; possession of interpersonal skills to deal sensitively with a diverse population of student-athletes and staff; have a creative innovative approach to program development; possess computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs; ability to meet established goals and work in a fast-paced environment,; proof of certification by the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), or by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC or Master SCC). Must be First-Aid/CPR/AED certified. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Preferred: Master’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, health sciences, strength training or related field; 5+ years of experience of coaching at the collegiate level; certified through United States Weightlifting Association (USAW) as a Level 1 Sport Performance Coach; experience in the management, utilization, daily reporting & communication to the sport coaching staff for internal and external load data systems (Global Positioning System and Heart Rate), and ways to improve practice & training management from data metrics. Ice Hockey experience at the collegiate or professional level preferred.
