PRN Strength & Conditioning Specialist at MedStar Health, based at MedStar Health Physical Therapy’s Cockeysville location. Summary

MedStar Health is looking for a Strength & Conditioning Specialist who, under general direction, will teach safe and effective lifting techniques and proper spotting procedures; select exercises and instruct athletes in execution of exercises. You will implement athletic development programs consisting of speed, strength, power, coordination, and flexibility; provide nutrition counseling; design long-term training programs for athletes; collaborate with coaches to develop customized training protocols; and assist in the management of the strength and conditioning facility. Primary Duties

Assist leadership in cultivating and expanding relationships with area high schools and club programs to increase athlete participation. Attend events with leaders in the local business and athletics community. Develop and provide support with local charities. Schedule clients for appointments in a timely and efficient manner; develop and manage individual and group weight, strength and fitness training programs; tailor programs for specific needs; demonstrate exercises; correct technique; monitor progress and document progress, initial status, goals and results. Obtain and document pertinent medical history and performance assessments as needed. Teach clients through instruction and demonstration using movement mechanics, sport-specific modalities, and consideration of the individual client’s capabilities. Reduce the likelihood of sports-related injuries by incorporating proper pre-training and warm-up practices and coordinating with qualified sports medicine personnel during training sessions and contests. Maintain a clean training center and equipment. Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams; attend meetings; serve on committees; represent the department and facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Distribute marketing materials and create social media content to raise program awareness. Respond to phone and email inquiries and handle scheduling and billing. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field. CPR certification (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 90 days of employment. CSCS Certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, or SCCC Certification by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, or Health Fitness Instructor certification by the American College of Sports Medicine. 1-2 years of strength and conditioning experience preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
