Job Title: Med/Surg RN
Position/Specialty: Med/Surg RN
Shift: 4x12s (Days, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
Patient Ratios: 1:6-1:7
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-Call Requirement: No
Floating Requirement: Yes
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Med/Surg RN to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical-surgical nursing, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Med/Surg RN will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, including those with complex medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care to patients in a medical-surgical unit.
- Assess patient conditions, vital signs, and health histories.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Manage patient documentation accurately within the Epic charting system.
- Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
- Attend and contribute to interdisciplinary staff meetings.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of Med/Surg nursing experience.
- Active SC RN license or Compact license must be secured before start date.
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
- Preferred experience in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Must complete all assigned training modules prior to the start date and attend required staff meetings.
- Must be open to floating within the scope of practice as needed.
- Previous travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
Unit Details:
- Type of Facility: Short-term acute care hospital.
- Total Staffed Beds: 97.
- Daily Census: Approximately 36 patients.
- Interdisciplinary support services available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
