Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Cook to join our Food & Nutrition Services team. This role is vital in preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and well-being of patients, residents, staff, and guests. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment where attention to detail, food safety, and teamwork are top priorities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook hot and cold meals according to standardized recipes and menu cycles
  • Follow portion control and dietary restrictions to meet patient and resident nutritional needs
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols (e.g., HACCP guidelines)
  • Assist with meal plating, serving, and tray delivery during service times
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workstation, including equipment and utensils
  • Collaborate with dietitians, dietary aides, and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Support inventory control by monitoring food supplies and minimizing waste
Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and kitchen safety
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a hot kitchen environment
  • Reliable and punctual, with strong teamwork and communication skills
Preferred:
  • 1+ year of cooking experience in healthcare, hospitality, or institutional food service
  • Familiarity with therapeutic diets and nutrition guidelines
  • Food Handler’s Certificate or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
