Principal Engineer

As a Principal Engineer on the Room Tech and Collaboration Experience team, you will lead the system architecture, integration strategy, and in-room technology design for Walmart's global conference room estate. You'll bridge the gap between infrastructure, software engineering, and user experience to create seamless, scalable, and interoperable in-person meeting solutions. The Enterprise People Technology team supports the successful deployment and adoption of new People technology across the enterprise. What you'll do: Architect Next-Gen Meeting Experiences: Design end-to-end AV infrastructure and in-room experiences that are intuitive, reliable, and interoperable across platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Lead Cross-Functional Integration: Partner with software engineers to develop and deploy APIs, automation tools, and telemetry that improve system performance and reduce manual processes. Drive Standardization & Scale: Define and govern system standards, configurations, and best practices across thousands of meeting rooms globally. Solve for Room Interoperability: Tackle platform coexistence challenges, leading initiatives that simplify the user experience while enabling cross-platform collaboration. Elevate User Experience: Champion innovations that reduce Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR), improve device uptime, and enhance associate satisfaction through predictive support and real-time data. What you'll bring: Deep Technical Expertise: Proven experience with AV/UC technologies (Zoom, MS Teams, Crestron, Logitech, etc.) and modern IT infrastructure, with the ability to design systems at scale. Systems Thinking: Ability to architect modular, extensible systems that align with Walmart's Digital Workplace vision and scale across global locations. Integration-Focused Mindset: Experience working with APIs, telemetry platforms, and software engineering teams to create connected and intelligent room ecosystems. User-Centered Design Philosophy: Passion for simplifying complex systems into delightful user experiences that drive adoption and productivity. Operational Excellence: Strong track record of implementing resilient, supportable, and secure systems while reducing manual intervention through automation. Minimum Qualifications Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, or related area and 5 years' experience in technology infrastructure engineering across areas such as compute, storage, network, mobility or virtualization-related technologies. Option 2: 7 years' experience in technology infrastructure engineering across areas such as compute, storage, network, mobility or virtualization related technologies. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, or related area and 3 Years of relevant experience in configuration management, developing automation for Provisioning and Orchestration, experience developing and managing service-level objectives (SLOs)/service level indicators (SLIs) for Infrastructure Service availability and performance.
