Air Reserve Technician (ART) Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide an interface between the aircraft maintenance activity and the logistics support activities which provide equipment, supplies, parts, and components. Additionally, the position provides training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. DUTIES: DUTY 1: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Decentralized Material Support function within the Logistics Readiness Squadron, ensuring equipment support complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Reviews policies, methods, and procedure pertaining to the Maintenance/supply interface. DUTY 2: Represents unit in working with supply support organizations to determine requirements and the capability of supply to support those requirements. Ensures that resources necessary to expedite movement of material required to prevent or alleviate work stoppages are available and utilized to the fullest extent. DUTY 3: Serves as the Decentralized Material Support for assistance on issues concerning Depot Level Reparables (DLRs). Responsible for appropriate DLR training to all MSL personnel on supply-related issues. Brief Senior ART on the posture and problems affecting stock fund operations and recommend corrective action. DUTY 4: Accountability of supply and equipment assets. Utilizes the GO-81 database to provide on-line access to organization, equipment, mission, and status date. Updates appropriate database as events occur. Provides current supply status, including document number, quantity ordered, quantity received, and work unit code for each part ordered. REQUIREMENTS: U.S. Citizenship is required Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance as a condition of employment If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirement is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of supply regulations, policies, procedures, techniques, and methods to include requisitioning, requirements, equipment management, inspection activities, demand processing, records maintenance, and customer service. Knowledge of logistical functions, operations, systems, program requirements, and work methods. Ability to research, compile, and analyze supply information and data; receive, screen, review, verify, and maintain supply documents. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve issues and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material such as regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve problems. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow the incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. Work schedules will be so aligned to allow the individual to function fully on unit training assembly (UTA) weekends. The incumbent may be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty (TDY) assignments. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
