Farm To School College Intern

Reporting to the Office of Nutrition Assistant Administrator at the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (the Department), the Farm to School College Intern will work on the Ohio Harvest of the Month campaign to develop technical assistance, resources, and trainings. The intern's duties include: Develops resources and educational materials on local procurement of Ohio Harvest of the Month foods; Develops a student-focused taste test kit for use in Child Nutrition programs; Assists in the development of classroom materials and activity pages to connect Ohio Harvest of the Month foods to the classroom for both childcare centers and K-12 schools; Creates templates and materials to facilitate a marketing campaign and promotional materials for Ohio Harvest of the Month including but not limited to: recipe templates, fact sheets, and an Ohio Harvest of the Month Program Guide; Creates content for educational materials and communications to promote Ohio Harvest of the Month foods focused on agricultural practices, nutrition, and career exploration related to Ohio Harvest of the Month foods; Develops resources and materials on growing Ohio Harvest of the Month produce items in school gardens and child care facilities; Collaborates with the Department's Culinary Instructor to bring culinary and nutrition education centered on Ohio Harvest of the Month foods to Ohio schools and childcare centers; Manages inventory, delivery processes, and communications to ensure schools and childcare centers receive desired Ohio Harvest of the Month promotional materials. Must currently be enrolled in a college or university and in good academic standing. Preferred experience or coursework in Nutrition, Agriculture, Communications, and/or Marketing.
