Role Description: This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Credit Officer located in Miami, FL. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a seasoned Senior Credit officer to support the Chief Credit Officer and strengthen our credit function for
real estate loans
. This is a strategic role with both leadership and analytical responsibilities, perfect for someone who thrives on mentoring teams and driving sound credit decisions. The Senior Credit Officer will be responsible for assessing and evaluating the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses. Daily tasks include managing credit risk, analyzing financial statements, approving or rejecting credit applications, and overseeing the credit granting process. The Senior Credit Officer will ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures while maintaining positive customer relationships. This role ensures the integrity and performance of our credit portfolio while mentoring and developing junior and seasoned analysts. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute the highest level of credit analysis for new loans, annual reviews, modifications, and renewals. Administer and maintain criticized and problem loans. Mentor and develop junior and seasoned credit analysts. Determine business risk through analysis of borrowers’ financial statements (historical and projected), considering market, economic, and industry conditions. Perform underwriting for new business and maintain existing syndicated debt transactions, emphasizing relationship-building through comprehensive financial solutions. Prepare written narratives on all major aspects of the borrower’s business, including financial ratios, turnover, collateral, and cash flow analysis. Loan portfolio shall consist of all types of
commercial real estate loans
including, but not limited to, lines of credit, term notes, permanent owner-occupied mortgages, and/or commercial constructions, residential, consumer and HELOCs. Conduct global cash flow analysis in order to establish the overall exposure and performance of the borrower and/or guarantor Assign and maintain the appropriate loan risk grades; as well as accrual, impaired, and TDR designations according to the bank's loan policy Provide support during the loan review audits and OCC examinations Monitor borrowers’ financial condition and compliance with loan covenants. Review and analyze commercial and residential appraisals. Review credit risk rating triggers for upgrade, downgrade, and action plans. Conduct internal market valuations of criticized assets. Review loan agreements to ensure they are complete and accurate according to policy Assist the Chief Credit Officer with Allowance for Credit Loss (ACL) calculations and related reporting. Perform any other analytical and credit-related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 8+ years of experience in commercial credit, underwriting, or credit portfolio management. Strong analytical, financial, and risk assessment skills. Experience mentoring and developing credit analysts. Deep understanding of commercial real estate lending. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide strategic insights to senior management.
