Reports To Telecom Support Supervisor Closing Date October 14, 2025 FLSA Status Non-Exempt First Review Date August 22, 2025Position Overview The Network Support Specialist performs moves, additions, changes, and provides continued support for all network and telephony equipment. This position works closely with the Telecom Support Supervisor to establish maintenance procedures, including preventative maintenance policies and schedules. What you will be doing •Ensures the development and use of an effective preventative maintenance program suitable to meet operational objectives •Develops troubleshooting and flowcharts for technical use in localizing and identifying probable trouble and/or faculty components for network •Installs and configures network equipment •Recommends changes and upgrades to college and communications network systems •Recommends and implements approved installation and maintenance standards and policies •Assesses current services and operations for maximum efficiency, improvements installation / maintenance production and customer satisfaction •Provides technical support and assists in monitoring and analyzing usage and system traffic, prepares reports for the managers •Ensures integrity (completeness and accuracy) of the cabling infrastructure documentation •Determines communication systems needs in a particular area •Performs other duties as assigned What you need to succeed •Four (4) years of related Information Technology experience supporting network equipment and infrastructure •All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution •Knowledge and understanding of college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures •Ability to install network switches, IP phones, wireless access points and other network-attached devices. •Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot uninterrupted power supply (UPS) equipment •Ability to troubleshoot equipment failure and network outages •Ability to write reports, technical documentation, and procedure manuals •Must have complete understanding of TCP / IP network and related protocols •Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental •Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization •Ability use sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternative and takes action •Ability to relate with people from varied background and be sensitive to cultural diversity, race gender, disability and other •Must possess a valid driver’s license •Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff Preferences
