Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
to join our executive leadership team. As a key advisor to the CEO and a vital leader within our organization, the CFO will drive financial strategy, ensure operational excellence across fiscal operations, and support our commitment to delivering high-quality, community-based services to over 1,700 individuals and families annually across the Merrimack Valley, Greater Lowell and North Shore.
With an annual budget of $45 million and a workforce of more than 500 employees, Waystone is poised for growth and innovation. The incoming CFO will play a central role in implementing our strategic plan, building contingency frameworks in collaboration with the CEO and the executive leadership team, and streamlining core financial and operational processes. Location: 439 South Union Street Lawrence, MA 01843 Schedule: Monday – Friday 9:00am -5:00pm Compensation range: This is a 40-hour exempt full time position. Job Responsibilities: Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team in organizational planning, risk management, and fiscal strategy. Lead the Fiscal, IT, and Facilities Departments, managing five direct reports. Oversee all financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, reporting, and audits to ensure compliance and transparency. Develop and implement financial and operational policies and procedures that drive efficiency and sustainability. Support long-term financial planning, cash flow management, and scenario modeling. Collaborate with program leaders and funding agencies to ensure sound fiscal stewardship of public and private resources. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal stakeholders, external auditors, government entities, and the Board of Directors. Leverage technology and systems to improve reporting, analysis, and resource allocation across departments.
Qualifications: Proven experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, or senior finance leader, ideally within the nonprofit, healthcare, or human services sector. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA, MBA, or Master’s in Finance or Public Administration strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP), government contracts, and grant compliance Track record of leading diverse teams, managing complex budgets, and implementing organization-wide process improvements. Excellent strategic planning, analytical, and communication skills. Experience engaging with and presenting to Boards and external stakeholders.
