Are you a policy professional who thrives on strategy, advocacy, and making an impact on Capitol Hill? If so, NADA is seeking a strategic and highly motivated Director of Legislative Affairs to join our Public Policy/Legislative Affairs team. In this role, you’ll help shape and advance the legislative priorities of NADA and ATD—representing the voice of franchised automobile and truck dealers before Congress.

The Key Responsibilities of the Director, Legislative Affairs:

  • Serve as advocate for NADA’s members before Congress.
  • Track and analyze legislative developments, providing strategic input on policy priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members of Congress, key staff, and industry stakeholders.
  • Draft legislative materials, advocacy communications, testimony, and briefing documents.
  • Propose and draft legislation or amendments to advance NADA’s and ATD’s priorities.
  • Collaborate with industry coalitions and allies to support shared legislative goals.
  • Represent NADA and ATD at political events, meetings, and industry functions.
  • Coordinate advocacy efforts across internal teams, including Regulatory Affairs and Public Affairs, to ensure alignment.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working in or with the federal legislative process.
  • Previous Capitol Hill, trade association, or lobbying experience strongly preferred; Senate experience is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of the legislative process and political landscape.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for persuasive advocacy.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with legislative tracking tools a plus.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
