Zeitro is building the infrastructure system for the U.S. mortgage industry, transforming how lenders, loan officers, and borrowers connect and transact. Our SaaS and AI-driven platforms enable financial institutions to operate more efficiently, stay compliant, and deliver better borrower experiences.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Director of Engineering who is both a hands-on technical leader and a strategic builder of teams and systems. You’ll set the technical direction, architect scalable SaaS and AI-driven solutions, and ensure our engineering organization delivers reliable, secure, and innovative technology for the mortgage industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own Zeitro’s technical vision and system architecture for SaaS and AI-powered products.
• Guide the design and deployment of AI/ML models for compliance automation, borrower insights, and intelligent decisioning.
• Stay close to the code: review designs, lead technical deep dives, and provide architectural guidance.
• Drive the evolution of a cloud-native SaaS + AI platform (AWS/GCP, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, data pipelines, ML pipelines).
• Partner with Product to translate industry and customer needs into technical roadmaps, balancing SaaS scalability with AI innovation.
• Establish engineering best practices across CI/CD, DevOps, ML Ops, testing, observability, and security.
• Build, mentor, and scale a team of engineers and data scientists.
• Ensure compliance, security, and high availability in all platform designs.
• Represent engineering in executive discussions and external partnerships.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years in leadership roles.
• Proven success designing and scaling enterprise-grade SaaS platforms.
• Experience leading teams in building and deploying AI/ML-powered applications.
• Cloud infrastructure
• Databases, data pipelines, monitoring, analytics
• AI/ML systems, MLOps, and model deployment at scale
• Security, compliance, and reliability engineering
• Mortgage technology or fintech background strongly preferred.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with organizational scaling.
• Better to have: prior startup experience from Series A through Series C, with proven ability to scale engineering functions through rapid growth.
