The Tesla Energy Product and Service Engineering team is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and skilled Product Engineer to support the growth of our Industrial Storage fleet. As this fleet expands, Tesla aims to maintain industry-leading uptime across our commercial and utility-scale batteries in various grid-scale applications.
We utilize data from connected systems to monitor product performance, proactively identify issues, and systematically eliminate causes of downtime. The Industrial Storage team needs a product engineer to lead system-level integration across electronics design, firmware, software, and service operations, supporting new feature releases and diagnostics.
You will collaborate with engineers to pilot firmware features, troubleshoot behaviors, develop onboard diagnostics, and analyze fleet data to inform development. Your ultimate responsibility will be supporting commissioning activities and enhancing operational uptime of Tesla's stationary batteries used by commercial and utility customers in grid-connected and microgrid setups.
Success in this role requires troubleshooting skills across electronic, mechanical, and network systems, proficiency with Linux, Python programming, and SQL data manipulation. If you enjoy problem-solving and creating solutions, this role is ideal for you.
What You'll Do- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and firmware issues affecting Tesla's Industrial Storage customers
- Lead cross-functional efforts with design, firmware, field service, and support teams to prevent recurring issues
- Analyze logged data to define failure signatures and use Tesla automation tools for diagnosis and response
- Define and document actions for field and support teams for specific failure modes, including training
- Quantify benefits of product or manufacturing improvements and collaborate on implementing them
- Support escalated customer cases worldwide to minimize downtime
- Create documentation and training for commissioning, operation, repair, and servicing of Tesla's storage products
- Degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Experience with SQL and Python for large-scale data analysis
- Experience managing Linux-based equipment
- Strong fundamentals in engineering, firmware, and software systems
- Experience troubleshooting electrical, system, firmware, or process failures
- Proven leadership, collaboration skills, and attention to detail
- Experience with battery and power systems is a plus

Expected Compensation
$100,160 - $225,840 per year, plus stock awards and benefits. Compensation varies based on location, experience, and skills. Details will be provided upon offer.
