JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our accounting team at a high performing commercial roofing company with $50M+ in annual revenue. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (CRE) and a strong understanding of construction accounting principles. This position is essential in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate record-keeping with compliance with internal controls and industry standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records using Sage 300 CRE, including AP, AR, GL, job cost, and bank reconciliation modules.
- Record day-to-day financial transactions, including invoices, checks, deposits, and journal entries.
- Process accounts payable and ensure timely payments to vendors and subcontractors, including lien waivers and proper job cost coding.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts, receivable, ensuring accurate billings and timely collections.
- Support payroll processing by coordinating with HR and external processors, ensuring accuracy of job costing and labor allocation.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations monthly.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, including job costs reports, WIP schedules, and budget variance analyses.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking.
- Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure accurate cost tracking and budget adherence.
- Maintain vendor files, certificates of insurance, and 1099 compliance
- Assist with year-end closing and preparation for external audits or tax filings.
- Support the Controller and Accounting Manager with additional projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years + of bookkeeping/accounting experience in construction or commercial roofing industry.
- Proficient in Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (CRE) including job cost, AP, AR, and GL modules
- Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting standards, including job cost allocation and retainage
- High attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial reports.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Experience with Sage Paperless, TimberScan, or similar document management tools.
- Knowledge of certified payroll and union reporting (if applicable)
- Familiarity with lien law compliance and AIA billing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility as needed.
- Office based role with potential for limited remote work depending on experience and performance.
