This is a role for a builder who is ready to take their career to the next level. You will lead high-impact work that demands both vision and precision. We work on foundational systems that millions rely on every day to manage and spend their hard-earned cash–reliability and performance are just table stakes. As the lead for Banking Infrastructure, you’ll command a small pod of exceptional engineers, driving lean, incisive execution. You’ll make the critical calls on which parts of our infrastructure we keep, and which we evolve. You’ll set the standard for scalability, stability, and operational excellence across databases, compute, distributed systems, and deployments — building the foundation that enables us to move faster, safer, and smarter. This role is based in our New York, NY or Menlo Park, CA office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. What you’ll do
Lead high-stakes scaling efforts to support millions more customers without breaking stride Set and drive the long-term technical strategy for Robinhood Banking Infrastructure Determine which parts of our infrastructure to keep, which to evolve, and lead those transitions from the front Design bulletproof solutions for mission-critical systems that require extreme availability (think: transaction authorization) Establish and implement best-in-class practices for load testing, canary releases, recovery tooling, and deployment pipelines Drive stability and scalability across all layers — databases, compute, deployments, and beyond Reduce operational friction by improving oncall, crafting elegant protocols, and streamlining incident response Invest in developer experience so the whole ENG team can iterate faster with less risk Anticipate scaling bottlenecks before they appear and take decisive action to stay ahead What you bring
