ELECTRICAL ENGINEER OR ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING
Your New Role
As an experienced engineer or engineer-in-training (EIT), you'll assist in designing electrical systems (power, lighting, fire alarm and low voltage) for building construction. You are a contributing team member performing engineering work with internal and external disciplines during planning, design and construction administration phases of projects. In addition, you'll assist with inspections, research and other technical discipline tasks to ensure adherence to relevant codes and standards. This position is classified as a hybrid role, requiring regular in-person attendance at one of our designated office locations. Specific scheduling will be discussed during the interview process.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Lead or partake in project design efforts to complete design and ensure conformance to quality control and quality assurance procedures. Determine Design Criteria using relevant codes and standards.
  • Responsible for concurrently managing multiple small-scale projects.
  • Assist in preparing detailed plans and construction documents, engineering calculations, contract specifications and bid documents, and technical report writing. Review shop drawings and RFIs as needed.
  • Devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Coordinate with internal and external disciplines to ensure understanding of scope and project deliverables as well as effective client/team communications.
  • Attend project meetings and jobsite visits and assist with on-site investigations/assessments of existing buildings as required for projects; all of which may require occasional overnight travel.
  • Maintain continuous improvement of technical standards, design guidelines, practices and procedures and provide communication and explanation of the same.
  • Mentor team members for continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices.
  • Assist with client relations.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be required to ensure client project delivery and company operations.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
  • 5+ years' experience working in electrical engineering. Candidates must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or hold an EIT or Engineering Intern (EI) certification. PE licensed in Minnesota is a plus.
  • Experienced in the design and analysis of complex electrical systems (e.g., controls, instrumentation, SCADA systems, power distribution systems) with a solid understanding and application of engineering principals, practices, and concepts. Working knowledge of remote telemetry systems and SCADA network communications is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD and current electrical engineering software (e.g., Visual Lighting, AGI 32, SKM Power*Tools, Lightstanza). Working knowledge of MicroStation, Smartsheet, Unanet CRM by Cosential, and Deltek Ajera software is a plus. Ability to maintain skill levels within the changing technology environment.
  • Ability to navigate and apply national, state and local codes along with industry standards (e.g., National Fire Protection Association-NFPA (including NFPA 70 (NEC), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning-ASHRAE, International Energy Conservation Code- IECC, etc.) to overall project and individual system designs.
  • Proven personnel management skills, leadership qualities and effective mentoring capabilities. Strong and effective decision-making and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates holding an EIT or EI certification are committed to completing The Principals and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam within a dedicated time frame. Candidates will be expected to obtain their PE license for career progression.
  • Positive and professional attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and clients in person or virtually.
  • The applicant is a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident with a valid Green Card.
