Job Description
Job Title: Progressive Care Nurse - Neuro Trauma
Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
Location: Progressive Care Neuro Trauma Unit
Floor: 4th
Number of Beds: 23
Staffing: 6-7 RNs and 2 Aides on both Day and Night Shifts
Patient Ratios: 4:1
Required Certifications: ACLS & BLS
Preferred Certifications: NHISS & TNCC
Unit Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and team-oriented Progressive Care Nurse to join our Neuro Trauma unit. This unit specializes in providing care for patients with neurological and trauma-related conditions. The ideal candidate will have telemetry and step-down experience, with a preference for those with neuro or trauma backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality patient care in a progressive care setting.
- Monitor vital signs and manage bedside equipment, including telemetry and high-flow oxygen systems.
- Perform procedures such as EEGs and chest tube insertions as required.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop patient care plans and ensure the highest standards of care.
- Assist in emergency situations and provide critical care support as needed.
Equipment Used:
- Bedside monitors
- End tidal CO2 monitoring
- Chronic ventilators
- Subdural drains
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience in telemetry and step-down nursing.
- Background in neuro and trauma care is highly desirable.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Dress Code:
Professional scrub attire (no specific color requirement).
Weekends and On-Call Availability:
Every other weekend required; no on-call duty.
