Job Title: Expert Network Architect HBITS Task Order: HBITS-07-14237 Agency: New York State Information Technology Services (ITS) on behalf of the NYS Department of Transportation (DOT) Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid) Duration: 30 months Rate: Depends on experience

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Expert Expert Network Architect for our client who will support the Department of Transportation's Traffic Safety Management and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The Expert Network Architect will design, implement, and maintain highly complex networking solutions that support statewide traffic management, signals, and transportation centers. The position requires advanced expertise with Cisco networking equipment, LAN/WAN design, DMVPN, IPSec, OSPF/BGP, VPN management, and troubleshooting tools like Wireshark. Experience with wireless technologies, large-scale endpoint management, and providing technical guidance to business and field users is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

Design and build network solutions that meet business requirements and align with NYS ITS security and technical standards. Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues with DOT Traffic Signal and Traffic Management Center systems, including performance tuning, log review, and security checks. Work with commercial vendors (COTS) and agency staff to install, configure, and test networking equipment, including preparing field devices for deployment. Review and analyze existing network architecture and provide detailed specifications, recommendations, and upgrade plans. Deliver Level 3 technical support for DOT enterprise traffic safety and transportation systems. Update inventory and documentation for deployed network devices using state business applications. Train field technicians on remote connectivity best practices to assist in installation and maintenance. Ensure compliance with ITS security and technology policies. Provide remote guidance to field technicians during equipment setup and maintenance. Participate in off-hours work when required to support system operations.

Qualifications:

7 years configuring and troubleshooting LAN Networking equipment in a complex networking environment of at least 1,000 remote endpoints that includes switches, routers/firewalls and VPN devices. This includes troubleshooting issues using protocol analysis tools (i.e. Wireshark) and conducting in-depth analysis on network data captures. 7 years Analytical and Technical knowledge of DMVPN, IPSec, OSPF/BGP is required. 7 years experience with Cisco hardware and Cisco IOS software in a complex TCP/IP environment including routing, port forwarding/NAT, VPN management. 5 years experience supporting and configuring wireless network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, Aruba. 5 years experience working with business users to:
