K-12 Electrical Design Project Manager
Lead electrical design for
new schools, modular classrooms, and modernization projects , from schematic design through construction documents.
Prepare
single line diagrams, panel schedules, branch circuit layouts, and power distribution systems
that comply with DSA standards.
Design
interior and exterior lighting systems , including fixture layouts, controls, fixture schedules, cut sheets, and lighting calculations/footcandle studies.
Perform
Title 24 (EnergyPro) energy compliance documentation , integrating efficiency requirements into the design package.
Coordinate with
architects, mechanical, plumbing, and civil engineers
to integrate electrical and low-voltage systems seamlessly into project drawings.
Manage
utility coordination
with power, telephone, and data providers, including completing service request forms and ensuring clearance requirements.
Design
emergency/egress lighting, exit signage, and backup power systems
to meet safety codes and school-specific requirements.
Plan and design
low-voltage and technology systems , including fire alarm, intrusion detection, access control, camera surveillance,
data/communications
(MDF/IDF), AV, sound reinforcement, and assistive listening systems.
Participate in
DSA Bluebeam plan check sessions , respond to reviewer comments, and incorporate required revisions into the design.
Support
construction administration
by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits and punch lists, and preparing as-built drawings.
Conduct
field surveys of existing schools
to document conditions, determine electrical interconnections, and design upgrades for modernization projects.
Manage project deliverables to meet schedules while maintaining strong communication with architects, consultants, and utility providers.
What We’re Looking For
Mandatory:
Demonstrated experience on
K-12 school projects under DSA jurisdiction .
Proficiency in
Autodesk Revit
(modeling, families, schedules, sheets, coordination).
Solid
AutoCAD skills
for 2D drawings and consultant coordination.
Familiarity with
Bluebeam workflows
and DSA plan check reviews.
Strong knowledge of building electrical systems, including power, lighting, low-voltage, and technology design.
Ability to manage deliverables, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with project teams.
